OSRS F2P Combat 1-99 All Combat Skills Guides:
When it comes to training combat skills in F2P on OSRS, it’s no secret that the options available can be quite limited. It can be frustrating to have limited access to certain areas of Runescape that are usually reserved for members. Nevertheless, it’s essential to remember that this doesn’t necessarily mean that you can’t achieve the high-level performance that you’ve always wanted.
One of the most crucial things to keep in mind when training combat in F2P on OSRS is the importance of being adequately prepared before engaging in battle. To maximize your chances of success, it is highly recommended that you ensure you have plenty of food and armor on hand. These items can make a significant difference in your ability to withstand attacks from your opponents, especially when facing tougher foes.
As you progress through the game and gain more experience, you may also want to consider upgrading your weapons and equipment to increase your chances of success. This can include upgrading to stronger armor, weapons with higher attack stats, or even utilizing special abilities that can give you an edge in battle.
In addition to taking the time to prepare yourself adequately, it’s also essential to be patient and persistent when training combat in F2P on OSRS. While it may take longer to reach higher levels than it would in a members-only world, with dedication and hard work, you can still achieve impressive results and become a formidable opponent in the game.
So, if you’re looking to take your combat skills to the next level in F2P on OSRS, remember that while it may be tedious at times, with the right mindset, preparation, and perseverance, you can still achieve your goals and become a master of combat in the world of Runescape.
OSRS F2P Combat 1-99 All Combat Skills Equipment/Armour Requirements:
Melee
As a free-to-play (F2P) player on OSRS, it’s important to always stay prepared and equipped to tackle the challenges that come your way. With limited resources and restricted access to premium content, maximizing the effectiveness of the options available to you is critical to your success.
While rune equipment is the best option available for F2P players, it’s essential to approach upgrading your gear strategically. Rather than rushing to acquire the best equipment immediately, it’s often more effective to start with more basic gear and gradually work your way up. Beginning with bronze equipment and progressing towards rune gear can help you develop your combat abilities and gradually increase your strength and power.
By taking a methodical approach to upgrading your gear, you can minimize the risk of losing valuable equipment and conserve resources in the process. This can be particularly important for F2P players who may have limited access to gold and other in-game resources.
Ultimately, staying prepared and building your gear over time is crucial to achieving success as a F2P player on OSRS. By taking a strategic approach to your equipment upgrades, you can ensure that you’re well-equipped to handle any challenges that come your way and build a strong foundation for future growth and development.
- Bronze/Iron Armor – 1 Defense, 1 Attack to wield scimitar
- Steel Armor – 5 defense, 5 attack to wield scimitar
- Black Armor – 10 defense, 10 attack to wield scimitar
- Mithril Armor – 20 defense, 20 attack to wield scimitar
- Adamantite Armor – 30 Defense, 30 Attack to wield scimitar
- Runite Armor – 40 Defense, 40 Attack to wield scimitar
Range
As with the melee mentioned above, you’ll want to wear the best tier item for your level that you can.
- Plain Leather – 1 Series, 1 Defense
- Hard Leather Body – 1 Range, 10 Defense
- Studded Leather Body – 20 Range, 20 Defense
- Green D’hide body – 40 Range, 40 Defense, Dragon Slayer Quest completion
To make the most of your F2P range gameplay, it’s advisable to equip yourself with the most suitable bow for your level, along with iron arrows. Using higher-level arrows can be expensive, especially during the early stages of the range, so it’s best to stick with iron arrows. As a F2P player, you can use up to a maple bow.
Your ultimate goal in F2P range is to reach level 40, which is when you can equip the best tier item – Green Dragonhide. This armor offers the best protection and is a significant bonus for free play. However, keep in mind that to equip the Green Dragon Skin’s body, you must first complete the Dragon Slayer quest.
Magic
Starting with magic in F2P can be a bit challenging. With limited options available and not much of a magic bonus, it may take some time to progress through the first 20-25 levels. To make the process smoother, it’s recommended to obtain some wizard robes from the Great Fair, along with an air staff, a water staff, and plenty of runes.
Combat Training:
It’s time to gear up and prepare for some battle gains! For your early training in F2P, cows, chickens, and goblins are your best bet. Check below for the recommended stats and locations.
Keep in mind that these NPCs are ideal for training in melee, range, and magic.
Levels 1-10 – Chickens
You can find chickens at the farm in the northeast of Lumbridge. The best thing about these creatures is that you can level up quickly by defeating them. They have very low hit points and also drop feathers and raw chicken. You can use the nearby range to cook the chicken, which will help you gain early cooking levels. Additionally, you can keep the feathers for some extra cash. It’s also a good idea to store the springs in your bank for when you upgrade to members and use them for springs later.
Levels 10-20 – Giant Rats
To progress through the next 10 levels, head over to the Lumbridge Swamp and fight the Giant Rats. You can find them by heading south from Lumbridge, past the churchyard.
Levels 20-30 – Al-Kharid Warriors
Great job! It seems like we’re ready to take on Mithril now, which means we can start dealing some serious damage and earn decent XP per hour. Keep up the good work!
For the next 10 levels, you should train on Al-Kharid warriors. These NPCs are only level 9 and have a bit of defense, which makes it possible to accumulate a good amount of EXP per hour. Another advantage of training here is that if you have enough food, the guards will automatically attack you after you fight one, which helps to save time.
Levels 30-50/70 – Hill Giants
One of the most memorable NPC training experiences in Oldschool RuneScape for me was training at Hill Giants. They provide great hourly experience, and also drop big bones and limpwurt roots that are valuable for earning money in the early stages. You can find Hill Giants west of the Cooking Guild, near the main stock exchange. However, you’ll need a brass key to enter the tiny house, which can be purchased at the Grand Exchange. As this location can get crowded at times, it’s recommended to switch to different worlds until you find a comfortable one to train and earn money in.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the giants, you can safely spot them by standing behind the pillars.
40+ Alternative 1 – Flesh Crawlers
Now that you’ve gained some experience and are ready for tougher challenges, it’s time to train on larger and more dangerous creatures. I suggest returning to the Stronghold of Security and battling Giant Spiders on the third level. Be sure to bring potions and food, and let your character automatically attack. Once they lose aggro, move to another area and return to repeat the process. It’s highly recommended to have 70 Defense for this training, as these monsters provide the most entertaining and highest XP per hour for free-to-play training.
Levels 60-70/80 – Giant Spiders
Now that you’ve gained some experience and are ready for tougher challenges, it’s time to train on larger and more dangerous creatures. I suggest returning to the Stronghold of Security and battling Giant Spiders on the third level. Be sure to bring potions and food, and let your character automatically attack. Once they lose aggro, move to another area and return to repeat the process. It’s highly recommended to have 70 Defense for this training, as these monsters provide the most entertaining and highest XP per hour for free-to-play training.
Levels 80+ – Ogress Warriors
If you want to gain decent XP and also increase your wealth, consider fighting Ogress Warriors. Although they have high defense and can hit hard, they drop valuable loot making them one of the best F2P creatures for drops.
You can find Ogress Warriors in the Corsair Cove Dungeon. It is advisable to bring strength-boosting potions and a chisel to cut gems. To extend your trips, it is recommended to use the protect from melee prayer.
Magical Workout:
You can use any of the previously mentioned methods for equivalent experience in magic training, but if you’re aiming to improve the skill or want to get the fastest experience per hour, I have compiled a list of F2P magic experience options below.
Remember to upgrade your robes as you level up. Wizard robes and wands significantly boost your magical bonus and greatly impact your hourly experience rate.
Method 1 – Cheap:
If you want to save money and spend almost everything you have on runes, then I would suggest following these methods. They may take a bit more time, but when it comes down to it, Magic is a pretty fast general skill anyway, and you should have no trouble blasting through early levels regardless of how you do it.
Head to the Wizards’ Tower near Draynor and climb to the third floor. In a small room, you’ll see a lesser demon behind a fence. I personally like using this place because it’s extremely good, you won’t get attacked, and all you really need to worry about is clicking on the demon after it comes back.
As you level up, be sure to switch to your stronger spells as they become available. This method can yield about 33,000 experience per hour. Staying here until level 55 magic to unlock high alch doesn’t take long at all, especially on mobile.
When you reach level 55 magic, the best F2P option is to high-alch until your finger falls off.
Method 2 – Duration
Levels 25-55 – Teleport:
Note: It is recommended to use an air staff for the teleportation method.
You can teleport to Varrock with the spell at 25 magic, which requires 1 law rune, 1 fire rune, and 3 air runes. This gives you 35 EXP per teleport.
You can cast the teleport to Lumbridge spell at 31 magic, which requires 1 law rune, 1 earth rune, and 3 air runes. This gives 41 EXP per teleport.
You can use the teleport to Falador with 37 magic, which requires 1 law rune, 1 water rune, and 3 air runes. This gives you 48 EXP per teleport.
Levels 55-99 – High Alchemy:
Finally, you’ve reached level 55. Experience rates are about to get crazy! You have unlocked the high alchemy spell. For each item on which you use high alchemy, you gain 65 experience per cast. This spell requires 1 nature rune and 5 fire runes. It is recommended to use a fire staff for this method.
Popular F2P items for high-alching are rune gear, adamant gear, bows, gold bars, etc. You won’t see much gain from high-alching in F2P, but we’re looking at the experience percentages anyway. This method yields 78-85,000 experience per hour.
Missions that give combat experience:
- Imp Catcher – 875 Magic Experience
- Witches Potion – 325 Magical Experience
- Vampire Slayer – 4,185 attack experience
- Dragon Slayer – 18,650 strength
- The quests mentioned above will take you to 10 magic without spending money on runes.
