OSRS Zulrah:
OSRS Zulrah is a formidable serpent boss, exclusively meant for solo play and requiring a player’s combat level to be at least 725. To inflict damage, players must utilize either Ranged or Magic attacks as melee strikes are futile against this beast. While players can approach it with a halberd, it remains invulnerable to melee assaults. To unlock access to OSRS Zulrah, players must have advanced through the Regicide quest until they reach Port Tyras.
Before confronting OSRS Zulrah, players must first seek permission from High Priestess Zul-Harcinqa by offering themselves as a replacement for the gnome child’s sacrifice. Otherwise, Zul-Gwenwynig would prohibit players from boarding the boat.
History of Zulrah:
According to a stained journal, OSRS Zulrah was an experiment created by an unnamed dragonkin during the Dragonkin Conflicts while residing in the Poison Waste. Initially deemed a failure, it was discarded in the swamp but eventually grew into a formidable serpent with unexpected intelligence. The dragonkin creator named it “Zulrah” before being consumed by its own creation.
In the Fifth Age, Harcinqa’s mother, daughter, and son visited the Poison Waste with a group of men attempting to escape from elven clans. With no food, they tried to fish for eels but failed. OSRS Zulrah appeared and consumed five of the men before the group made a deal with the serpent to spare them in exchange for sacrifices and worship. The gnome woman decided to name the village that was formed after the serpent as OSRS Zulrah.
Worshipped as a god, OSRS Zulrah receives sacrifices to spare the village of Zul-Andra. In the year 169 of the Fifth Age, an adventurer discovered the village and offered themselves as a sacrifice to save a gnome child from being consumed by OSRS Zulrah. The adventurer fought back and managed to defeat the serpent, though it retreated to the swamp to recover.
Getting There:
To access OSRS Zulrah, players must follow these steps:
- Take a charter ship to Port Tyras and run south to reach Zul-Andra and then its shrine.
- Use the fairy ring code b j s to reach the island west of Zul-Andra, jump across the stepping stones (requires 76 Agility, can be boosted), and then head to the shrine.
- Use a Zul-andra teleport scroll to directly teleport to Zul-Andra’s shrine.
Note that completion of Regicide is required for all of these methods.
After boarding the sacrificial boat and entering the shrine, players will trigger a dialogue or OSRS Zulrah’s appearance. The only way to leave the shrine is by defeating OSRS Zulrah, teleporting out, or dying.
Those who wish to spectate the fight can do so using a telescope on an island north of Zul-Andra, which can be accessed through the fairy ring code d l r.
When OSRS Zulrah is defeated, the drops will appear under the player, similar to cave krakens. Additionally, a Zul-andra teleport scroll will drop near the player, which cannot be picked up but can be used to return to Zul-Andra. To fight OSRS Zulrah again, the player must take the boat back to the shrine.
Fight Overview Zulrah:
During the fight with OSRS Zulrah, players will find themselves on a small U-shaped island with two pillars positioned in the middle corners, while OSRS Zulrah swims around in the swampy water. Melee attacks are ineffective, with the exception of halberds, to which it is immune. Therefore, players must use Ranged and/or Magic to damage OSRS Zulrah, with a damage cap of 50. Hits exceeding this amount will deal between 45-50 damage.
OSRS Zulrah will periodically change forms, each with varying resistance to Ranged and Magic attacks, making it advisable to use both attack styles. It also employs Ranged and Magic attacks and can use its tail to strike players with an avoidable Melee attack, depending on its current form. Additionally, OSRS Zulrah can summon smaller versions of itself, called snakelings, to attack players on the platform, along with toxic clouds that inflict rapid damage to those who stand in them.
Both OSRS Zulrah and its snakelings can cause venom with their attacks, a more potent version of poison that becomes increasingly damaging the longer it affects the player, starting at 6 damage per hit and increasing up to 20. Standard poison protection only reduces it to regular poison and does not provide immunity. To eliminate and prevent venom, it is advisable to use anti-venom, anti-venom+, or wear a serpentine helm.
OSRS Zulrah changes forms throughout the fight, indicated by its color, which denotes its attack style and weakness. It dives into the swamp and resurfaces elsewhere periodically, and it can spawn snakelings and toxic clouds in any form.
- When Zulrah is green, it attacks with Ranged. It is weak to Magic.
- When Zulrah is blue, it attacks with Ranged and Magic. It is weak to Ranged. Due to the Magic attacks being more common and more accurate, it is recommended to use Protect from Magic.
- When Zulrah is red, it uses a typeless attack wherein it swings its tail at the player’s position, which can be avoided by moving two tiles away; if it hits, it will deal heavy damage and stun the player. It is more resistant to damage than in the other two forms, but Magic is typically more effective than Ranged.
Zulrah’s forms and the instances when it spawns snakelings and toxic clouds follow specific patterns and are not random. There are four possible patterns that dictate Zulrah’s actions during the fight.
However, it always starts in its green form and spawns toxic clouds that cover most of the arena. After this, one of the four patterns is randomly selected for the rest of the fight. Additional details regarding Zulrah’s patterns can be found in the strategy article.
Player Death:
When a player dies while fighting Zulrah, all of their items except the three most valuable ones will be kept by the priestess at the Zul-Andra dock. This priestess acts as an Item Retrieval Service, but if the player dies an unsafe death before reclaiming their items, any items held by the priestess will be permanently lost. Some specific anomalies may occur with certain items.
If a player has defeated Zulrah fewer than 50 times, they can retrieve their items free of charge. After that, players must pay 100,000 coins each time they die to reclaim their items. However, Ultimate Iron players are not affected by this and can continue to retrieve their items from the priestess for free, without using the chest menu, regardless of their kill count.
Completing the elite Western Provinces diary grants the player one free daily resurrection at Zulrah. This resurrection restores all stats and allows the player to continue the fight from the current point if they drop to 0 hitpoints. This perk does not count as a death, and as such, it does not result in the loss of hardcore ironman status. To use this perk again, the player must log in after the daily reset time.
OSRS Zulrah Drops:
In addition to the 100% drops, the player will also have two rolls on Zulrah’s drop table, excluding tertiary items, which have only one roll. The displayed drop chances represent a single roll.
